Tina Munim had a successful Bollywood career
during the late seventies and early eighties. She is married to Anil Ambani.
She was discovered by Dev Anand. She represented India at the International
Teen Princess contest at Aruba, and won the Miss Photogenic and Miss Bikini
awards. In 1978 Dev Anand cast her in his film Des Pardes, which launched
her film career. In 1980 Sunil Dutt launched his son Sanjay in his film
debut "Rocky". Tina Munim was chosen as Sanjay's heroine. In the mid 1980s Munim made the conscious decision to put her
Bollywood career on hiatus. She moved to California because she was
desperate and her career was going down the drain.
She came to be knows as Sanjay Dutt's anchor during his drug phase, but when
he repeatedly failed to kick the habit, she strayed towards Rajesh Khanna as
they co-starred in 'Souten' (Chai Pe Bulaya Hai) and 'Fifty Fifty'.
In 1991 she returned to India and later married industrialist Anil Ambani.
Today she is involved in a number of charity, arts, and talent endeavors and
hasn't made any new film since the mid 1980s. She has two sons Jai Anmol and
Tina Munim was one of the first Indian beauty queens to follow their pageant
career with acting in Bollywood.
