India's most versatile Actress

 

A thoughtful and sensitive individual, Juhi Chawla, was born on 13 Nov 1967 in Ludhiyana - India. Juhi Chawla was the first child born to Mona Chawla and a Dr. S Chawla. She has one brother named Sanjeev.


Juhi Chawla, began her career with a disastrous debut, 'Sultanat', which died before its time. But Juhi, unlike many, got lucky. Before she became a heartthrob of the nation with Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, Juhi contested for Femina Miss India and won the crown. In 1984 she went to Miami representing India at the Miss Universe Pageant. Though she did not win the title, she came back home loaded with experience, which she shared with the viewers on television.

A certain class and benevolence has always separated Juhi Chawla from her ilk. Her upbringing in a family where education, etiquette and propriety were given their due importance, Juhi was bound to imbibe all the sophistication to cultivate herself as a true lady.

A mother heading the hospitality of the Taj Group, primary education in Mumbai's Fort Convent, college education in HR and Sydenham and all those growing up years in South Mumbai led to the formation of the refined young actress of Bollywood.

Juhi Chawla, the cutie-pie of the Bollywood has had her share in the field that she's been in for 15 years hitting the limelight every often with her smart performance in all the films she acted. She had a lot of hit films which are mostly musically melodious and films that did pretty well at the box office. Juhi acted opposite all the top heroes in Bollywood and Juhi enjoys a very good rapport with all the industry people that she runs a production company "DREAMZ UNLIMITED" in a parternership with the top class actor Sharukh Khan and Aziz Mirza.


Miss India 1984, Best Costumes Award in the Miss Universe contest 1984, Juhi won the "Best Actress" award from FILMFARE in '94 for "HUM HAIN RAHI PYAR KE" and "Most Sensational Female" award in '99 from NEWYORK's BOLLYWOOD for her performance in "DUPLICATE".


Although Juhi got married to her lover boy Jai Mehta, a business man from LONDON, she still enjoys her profession in Bollywood.


The Yash Raj Camp proved lucky. She accepted a small cameo in Chandni (1989), to later be cast in the critically accliamed Aaina (1993) opposite Jackie Shroff, and then in one of her biggest hits Darr (1993) with Sunny Deol and Shahrukh Khan.


Her pairing with Aamir Khan has been repeatedly successful with Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1989), Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke (1993) and later on Ishq (1997) becoming hits.


She has teamed up successfully with Shahrukh Khan too, delivering his first big hit Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman and then later on with Darr, Duplicate and Yes Boss.


Juhi has recently appeared in critically acclaimed films like Teen Deewarein, Bas Ek Pal, 7.5 Phere and My Brother Nikhil and in Nikhil Advani's Salaam E Ishq: A Tribute To Love, Ravi Chopra's Bhoothnath with Amitabh Bachchan and another film called Swami co-starring Manoj Bajpai to be directed by Ganesh Acharya.


Today Juhi Chawla is recognized as one of India's most versatile actresses. She's been playing lead roles for more than 20 years, something rarely any Bollywood actress has achieved.
